About the event
The Conference will bring together a variety of expert Presenters from various sporting codes, past and present Athletes, International Academics, researchers, Mental Health Professionals, and leading practitioners.
The aim of the conference is not only to discuss key issues around mental health and wellbeing in the sport industry, but to identify best practices around enhancing mental wellbeing of athletes and to continue to pursue best practice approaches in dealing with mental illness in athletes.
One of the key themes of the conference in 2019 will be the impact that cultures have on elite athlete mental wellbeing. We have seen athletes, particularly from Indigenous and Pasifika cultures struggle with not only the pressure to perform and public scrutiny, but the expectations that family and community place upon them.
